so follow me follow, down to the hollow, and there let us wallow

god is up to his tricks again

not content with murdering 300,000 innocent people with his tsunami last week (on christmas day, too!), god has played another little trick on a poor baby hippo:

Nairobi - A baby hippopotamus that survived the tsunami waves on the Kenyan coast has formed a strong bond with a 120-year-old giant male tortoise, in an animal facility in the port city of Mombasa, officials said on Thursday.

The hippopotamus, nicknamed Owen and weighing about 300kg, was swept down Sabaki River into the Indian Ocean, then forced back to shore when tsunami waves struck the Kenyan coast on December 26, before wildlife rangers rescued him.

"It is incredible. A less-than-a-year-old hippo has adopted a male tortoise, over a century old, and the tortoise seems to be very happy with being a 'mother'," ecologist Paula Kahumbu, who is in charge of Lafarge Park, said.

nice one, god. that hippo is going to be really fucked up psychologically when he reaches puberty and finds out that his mother is actually a 130-year-old man. and a tortoise to boot. and even worse they've given him a welsh name. i guess you'll be having a good old chuckle up there in paradise, right?

completely irrelevant photo of a mosquito

well, not so irrelevant really, because the mosquito is yet another of god's little jokes.

and talking about god's little jokes... yes, it's glenn "why doesn't god find me a baby hippo?" cripes time again. glenn will be here with you tomorrrow while i spend a couple of relaxing days at the origami clinic. see you guys on saturday.
